A walk along the river

October 19, 2017 0 Comments

Since losing weight i really enjoy exercise, I enjoy walking a lot more than i used to, if I'm prepared with snacks/food and for all weathers and a camera i would happily spend the whole day out and about. Recently i ventured out on a nice autumnal walk, i needed to go to the supermarket so i decided i would walk there and back a take the route that let me walk along the local river and nature reserve.

Since i was walking the route to go to the supermarket i joined the route a quarter of the way from the start. I have walked the whole of this route before and knew of some nice spots for photos, so i back tracked on myself a little. As i didn't start at the very beginning this was what i first saw when i joined the lovely wide path way filled with lots of pretty crunchy leaves i love the sound of the leaves under you feet as you walk through them.

When i go on walks i love looking at the funky shaped trees and stumps it amazing some of the shapes you see. There was some funky trees and stumps along the way that i just had to get snaps of here is a few of them.

I love taking random photo, those kind of photos where you look back on them and think why did i take a photo of that here is one of those for you.

Yeah just what i thought to why did i take a random photo of a bench. čśÇ

A river walk would be a river walk with out some photos of the river it self and the ducks swimming along it. Look at that last photo of the beautiful coloured crunchy leaves laying by the river bank.

As i get closer to the starting point of the route i seize the opportunity to take a couple more photos of beautiful crunchy leaves and random photos of random funny shaped walls.

At the start of the Route there is a dam that the ducks love to swim in there is fish too.

There is much more to see on this route i haven't featured it all but i hope you liked seeing some of it and i will one day feature the full route.

Slimming World on a budget

September 04, 2017 1 Comments

People often ask how i can afford to pay slimming world membership and follow the plan on the low budget that i am on. This was something i was really worried about myself, i was worried that i wouldn't be able to afford to buy healthy foods as well as pay my Slimming World membership. I sat down and wrote down everything i would have in a week and to my surprise it added up to a fortune i found myself spending between 5 and 10 pounds on ice cream a week and 1 or 2 takeaways a week which would be 10 pound each time if not more. I thought to myself that if i stop having takeaways this would pay for my membership each week and would save me a few pound too. Having followed Slimming world for 19 months and still continue to follow the plan. I have decided to list some ways in which you will allow you to follow the plan on a low budget.

  • Plan meals

Something as simple as planning meals can determined whether your have a good week or a bad week. Planning meals can help in may ways not only will you know what you are eating and when planning meals will help you save money as you will be buying products you need for the meals you have planned. If you have a family they will also know what they are have each day.

  • Shopping lists

Writing shopping lists are a great way to not forget that all important item you was going to the shop for in the first place. They are a great way of save money too as you will only buy what is on that list if its not on the list it shouldn't be in the basket/trolley.

  • Compare

Comparing prices is a great way to make sure you are paying the cheapest possible price and it will help you save money. I often use mysupermarket website which can be found here. This website allows me to search for the items i want to buy and compare the price against a number of supermarkets. This enables me to find what store is selling the item i need at the cheapest price.

  • Buy supermarket home brands

Buying supermarkets home brand can save you a large amount of money and it often tastes the same as a well known brand I always buy the cheaper brands where possible.

  • Buy frozen

Always buy frozen where possible, buying frozen can help in many ways in most cases it works out cheaper to buy frozen as it lasts longer than fresh.

  • Buy tinned/jars

Its amazing what you can find in a tin or jar. Not only are these cheap they can also save you time when cooking.

  • Buy in season

Buying fruit and vegetables that are in season are generally cheaper than those that are in season.

  • Buy reduced items

Most supermarket and shops will reduce items that need using that day/have a short date. However its always good to check the reduce section as you can often find products that have long dates this could be because its the only one left in that range and they want to use that shelf space for something else, The packaging is slightly damaged, They are no longer stocking the item therefore they are selling it at discounted price to get rid of it quicker or just because its the end of that season for example if the supermarket get a certain item in for the summer months if they have any left at the end of summer season they will reduce this item as they will no longer stock it. you can freeze most things. I will often be find at the reduced sections

  • Batch cook

Batch cooking can save you money and time later, You will also be prepared as well freeze your left overs too.

  • Bulk out meal

We all know that the most expensive part of the shopping list is the meat. If you bulk out your meals with things like beans, peas, chick peas, lentils  vegetables you wont use as much meat which also makes a meals go further you can freeze left overs and have them another day.

Joining Slimming World for the first time

August 15, 2017 10 Comments
January 2016 after a lot of research and checking out reviews i decided that i was going to  join Slimming World. I went on Facebook and found the Slimming World page to see if there was any offers on, and found there was going to be a voucher in the Sun newspaper which entitled you to join for free. I was very nervous and didn't know what to expect as i have never done anything like this before.

I looked up the local groups and found a one on a Saturday morning at 11:00. I let the consultant know that i was going to be joining and that i was really nervous, she reassured me that everything was going to okay and  would receive a warm welcome. The night before i remember feeling sick with worry and nerve's not knowing what to expect and going alone didn't make it any easier.
On the morning of joining i walked to group. I wanted to get there just before 11:00 as I felt if I enter the group early there would be no one there to look at me. Walking up the stairs and in to group I felt a lot of different emotions and I was still questioning if this was the right thing to do. I walked over to a group of people not knowing what to do or say. Thankfully I was greeted by a lovely lady who introduced her self as the consultant she took me over to the new members area where I had to fill out a short form so that I could sign up.

After filling out the form the consultant gave myself and the other new members a welcome pack and the new members talk. It was full of helpful information and as soon as I heard that I could eat as much pasta and potatoes as I like and still enjoy chocolate, crisps, biscuits and alcohol if I wanted I signed the box this was when I knew I really wanted to try Slimming World.

With the new members talk over I joined the rest of the group for image therapy. I was feeling more inspired at this point. Image therapy ended and raffle was drawn and Slimmer of the week was announced. I thought to myself this is the bit I'm not looking forward too. I'm going to be judged everyone will laugh or know my weight. This was not the case at all it was my time to step on the scales I had being fearing this all morning I didn't have a clue how much I weighed. I took everything possible off and stepped on the scales, I looked down the numbers just kept going up. I felt a knot in my throat I felt ashamed and embarrassed as the numbers stopped at 17 stone 5 lbs.

I stepped off the scales and the consultant said have you thought about a target I said no so she said I will put you in as club 10. This is when you have lost 10 Percent of your body weight I was fine with that and I was so happy that this would be the last time that I saw those number on the scales I left the inspired and ready to have a great first week.

Deciding i need to do something about my weight

August 03, 2017 10 Comments

In 2014 i noticed my clothes getting tighter and tighter until i had to buy a size bigger. This is when i decided that i needed to take action. At the time i remember addios diet pills being all over television adverts. I did a little bit if Research and decided that I would try them after taking them I started to be sick so I came off them.

When I was shopping in Asda and I saw they sold meal replacement shakes and decided to try them. All was going well and I lost a few pounds. After a few weeks it was getting repetitive having them same breakfast and lunch every day. I decided they wasn't for me and decided to stop trying to lose weight as nothing seemed to be working for me. I started to gain more and more weight and started to feel the effects it was having on my body. I was having heartburn all day everyday, I was getting out of breathe a lot, my knees would ache and i wasn't happy.

2015 was approaching fast and I still wasn't happy, I decided that I was going to try slim fast meal replacement shakes and do the 123 plan. This was going well for a few months and I lost about 7lbs how ever I went on holiday and couldn't keep to it so i gave up. My weight again began to go up and I wasn't happy and all issues I was having was getting a lot worse. Around November time I spoke to my partner Mark and expressed that I couldn't go on like this. I had to do something by this time my weight was starting to even effect my relationship.

I researched weight loss methods and I came to my attentions that a friends daughter had lost a lot of weight following the Slimming World plan. I researched Slimming World and asked family and friends for reviews everyone I spoke to had good experiences with it. I spoke to Mark about maybe joining a local Slimming World group as i knew I couldn't do it alone and wanted the support or other members losing weight. Christmas was just around the corner, I knew that there would be to many temptations so I decided to wait until after new year. January 2016 I Decided to join my local Slimming World group and this is where my new journey began
